Review

AdEx (Advertising Exchange) is an ad network based on blockchain and smart contracts, making it completely decentralized. The platform gives opportunity for advertisers to meet online publishers and discuss advertising contracts.

AdEx sold nearly $10 000 000 worth of tokens in their ICO. Total supply being 100 000 000 ADX.

Publishers can use AdEx to better monetize their websites. They will only generate revenue based on how many times the ad was clicked. Advertisers will only pay for real impressions, as every click will be verified by AdEx’s platform. Publishers will be dealing directly with Advertisers, meaning there will be no middlemen involved, significantly cutting costs. They will also have the option to accept or decline bids.

AdEx tokens will be needed by advertisers in order to purchase add space. Advertisers can use specific targeting tools in order to reach the right audience for their services, which could bring higher ROI for advertising companies and position AdEx on the market. The platform minimizes ad fraud possibilities by making sure ads are only delivered to real people. Advertiser budgets go directly to publishers, with no middlemen, no fees and no commissions.

AdEx provides users with the freedom of choosing what ads they’re targeted with. It emphasizes on privacy and getting meaningful ads. The platform also plans to implement a reputation management system, so users will be able to provide feedback about the work and trustworthiness of other users.

The first problem with AdEx comes from the fact that, despite trying their hardest to present themselves in a professional manner, no one on the team particularly stands out with anything specific. Their lineup is mediocre to say the least. Also, their advertiser services are more aimed towards video-related ads, which automatically limits possibilities for advertisers focused on non-video content.

AdEx is what I’d like to call an “ok project”. There’s nothing particularly bad and nothing particularly spectacular or revolutionary about it. It only has only one current competitor in the blockchain scene known as AdShares. The team has been slowly pushing development and they’re seemingly not in a rush to establish AdEx as a platform. The marketing has also been relatively weak so it’s definitely a project I wouldn’t rush headfirst to invest into. The only thing AdEx has going for it is getting Jihan Wu as a strategy advisor, but even that doesn’t make it any more lucrative.
