Mobius acts as a bridge between the real world and the blockchain. The Mobius network is composed of several parts, each capable of further expanding blockchain processes. It also provides developers with the means to create an oracle system and decentralized applications.
The Mobius crowd sale is an interesting one because it was one of the first ICOs deployed on the Stellar network. The tokens worth $39 000 000 sold out in less than 2 hours. The current supply is 386 032 753 MOBI, with total supply amounting to 887 990 859 MOBI. Investors in the ICO include China Angel Chain Capital, Nirvana Capital and WaltonChain.
According to the team, the Ethereum blockchain is too slow, expensive and unsecure to handle the technology that Mobius offers. Stellar supports multi-signature wallets at the protocol level, which in terms makes custodianship much simpler for developers. While the team acknowledges that Stellar is not perfect, they’re ok with trading off the flaws for much faster and much cheaper transactions.
Mobius makes it easy for an individual to use decentralized applications, it’s an open-source app interface designed for discovering apps and paying with cryptocurrencies. The DApp store has minimal fees and transactions take 2 to 5 seconds, it also does not interject itself between developers and users. Your secret key is kept to yourself, keeping you in control of your own money.
Mobius is a blockchain agnostic protocol functioning as a middleware for the blockchain stack. The protocol allows for simple cross-blockchain interoperability. This makes it possible for multi-chain services like smart contracts to be easily delivered to various to apps and devices.
To start off, the project is trying to kill way too many birds with one stone. The lack of focus clearly shows even after nearly a year since the ICO, as the team has struggled to deliver any major developments, partnerships or updates. Also, many people are unfamiliar with the Stellar network and how it works, unlike Ethereum which is the most common platform for ICOs.
Mobius has a lot of things going for it: a DApp store, a smart contract protocol and universal (MOBI) token protocol, but there’s a lot more to be desired. Despite showing huge promise in the beginning, development has been slow, however, Mobius is far from stagnant. The project has yet to show its potential and with its superior technology, we’ll hopefully see some big news coming in the future, providing the team can focus and push development.
