SmartMesh (SMT) is a Token-Based next generation internet protocol. SmartMesh allows you to connect with people, even when they are offline in order to complete offline payments or general conversation. It uses Peer to Peer (P2P) connection using Wifi to connect with other devices this ensures that data traffic will not flow through central servers and stays locally within the mesh network. The SMT will be used to send data between devices. While at the same time, the connected devices or the nodes earn SMT. To view the whitepaper it is available at https://bit.ly/2ESygpA (19 Pg)
SmartMesh allows mobile devices connected to WiFi, Bluetooth, ANT and other similar protocols to send payments, texts, voice/video call and browse SmartMesh cached distributed web pages while without any internet connection. If any device part of the network has an internet connection, the entire SmartMesh network is able to connect to the internet this is a SmartMesh micropayment extension. Micropayments allow users with internet connection to share their connection with the entire SmartMesh network, which would be an ideal solution for countries unable to have internet connections, for example, parts of India may not have internet connection at all times of the day, therefore, they are able to browse the internet twenty-four seven with the SmartMesh network. This allows users sharing their device to be rewarded for their efforts by receiving a cut from the microtransactions.
SmartMesh is still in early development and hasn’t been completely rolled out due to disruptions. The roadmap for 2018 is to include features such as SmartMesh offline communication 2.0, multi-hop algorithm optimization, SmartMesh offline social features and SmartMesh Offline payment protocol extension. In the middle of 2019, they plan to release the SmartMesh Android and iOS SDK Package.
Overall SmartMesh has an interesting approach but is it really fast/reliable this means will the connection be slow and have no downtimes at all, will the rewards be worth it especially with fears of Net Neutrality coming which could provide a boost for the project. If you a big supporter of Ethereum & Raiden Network this may be for you.
